إِلَيْهِ يُرَدَُّ 1218 الجاثية
فَأَمَّا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ فَيُدْخِلُهُمْ رَبُّهُمْ فِي رَحْمَتِهِ ذَلِكَ هُوَ الْفَوْزُ الْمُبِينُ ﴿۳۰﴾ وَأَمَّا الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا أَفَلَمْ تَكُنْ آيَاتِي تُتْلَى عَلَيْكُمْ فَاسْتَكْبَرْتُمْ وَكُنْتُمْ قَوْمًا مُجْرِمِينَ ﴿۳۱﴾ وَإِذَا قِيلَ إِنَّ وَعْدَ اللَّهِ حَقٌّ وَالسَّاعَةُ لَا رَيْبَ فِيهَا قُلْتُمْ مَا نَدْرِي مَا السَّاعَةُ إِنْ نَظُنُّ إِلَّا ظَنًّا وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمُسْتَيْقِنِينَ ﴿۳۲﴾ وَبَدَا لَهُمْ سَيِّئَاتُ مَا عَمِلُوا وَحَاقَ بِهِمْ مَا كَانُوا بِهِ يَسْتَهْزِئُونَ ﴿۳۳﴾
﴾30﴿ Fa ammal lazeena aamaanoo wa 'amilus saalihaati fayudkhiluhum Rabbuhum fee rahmatih; zaalika huwal fawzul mubeen
﴾31﴿ Wa ammal lazeena kafarooo afalam takun Aayaatee tutlaa 'alaikum fastakbartum wa kuntum qawmam mujrimeen
﴾32﴿ Wa izaa qeela inna wa'dallaahi haqqunw was Saa'atu laa raiba feehaa qultum maa nadree mas Saa'atu in nazunnu illaa zannanw wa maa nahnu bimustaiqineen
﴾33﴿ Wa badaa lahum saiyiaatu maa 'amiloo wa haaqa bihim maa kaanoo bihee yastahzi'oon
﴾30﴿ So those who believed and did righteous deeds—their Lord will admit them into His special mercy. That is the clear success
﴾31﴿ But as for those who disbelieved, it will be said to them, Were My verses not recited to you, but you acted arrogantly and were a sinful people?
﴾32﴿ And when it was said, Indeed, the promise of Allah is true, and there is no doubt about the Resurrection, you would say, We do not know what the Resurrection is; we think it is nothing but conjecture, and we are not convinced
﴾33﴿ And the evils of their deeds will become apparent to them, and they will be surrounded by that which they used to mock
[30,31] In the first verse, there is glad tidings, and by "mercy" is meant Paradise.
Since the loss of the deniers was mentioned earlier, in contrast, the clear success (fawz mubīn) of the believers is now mentioned.
And in the second verse, there is a warning, along with the mention of the causes of punishment.
[32] This is the third cause of punishment—denial of resurrection after death.
(قُلْتُمْ مَا نَدْرِي) – this is an admission of their great ignorance, because in Arabic, negation is used in such contexts where there is absolutely no means to attain knowledge.
(إِنْ نَظُنُّ إِلَّا ظَنًّا) – meaning: “only a weak and slight assumption” (i.e., a minimal and insignificant guess).
A second interpretation is: “We are not certain; we only assume, and even that is just an assumption.”
Note: The deniers of the Resurrection were of two types:
The first group openly denied the Resurrection—this was mentioned in verse (24).
The second group, upon hearing the proofs for resurrection after death, fell into doubt—this verse refers to those people.
[33] This too falls under the theme of warning and fear.
(يَسْتَهْزِئُونَ) – it becomes clear that when they said “We only assume a guess” (إِنْ نَظُنُّ إِلَّا ظَنًّا), it was not out of genuine doubt, but rather in a mocking and sarcastic manner.
Therefore, they are far worse than the general group of deniers.
