عَمَِّ 1507 اَلْمُطَفِّفِين

َ عَيْنًا يَشْرَبُ بِهَا الْمُقَرَّبُونَ ﴿۲۸﴾ إِنَّ الَّذِينَ أَجْرَمُوا كَانُوا مِنَ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا يَضْحَكُونَ ﴿۲۹﴾ وَإِذَا مَرُّوا بِهِمْ يَتَغَامَزُونَ ﴿۳۰﴾ وَإِذَا انْقَلَبُوا إِلَى أَهْلِهِمُ انْقَلَبُوا فَكِهِينَ ﴿۳۱﴾ وَإِذَا رَأَوْهُمْ قَالُوا إِنَّ هَؤُلَاءِ لَضَالُّونَ ﴿۳۲﴾ وَمَا أُرْسِلُوا عَلَيْهِمْ حَافِظِينَ ﴿۳۳﴾ فَالْيَوْمَ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا مِنَ الْكُفَّارِ يَضْحَكُونَ ﴿۳۴﴾ عَلَى الْأَرَائِكِ يَنْظُرُونَ ﴿۳۵﴾ هَلْ ثُوِّبَ الْكُفَّارُ مَا كَانُوا يَفْعَلُونَ ﴿۳۶﴾

﴾28﴿ Ainaiy yashrabu bihal muqarraboon
﴾29﴿ Innal lazeena ajramoo kaanoo minal lazeena aamanoo yadhakoon
﴾30﴿ Wa izaa marroo bihim yataghaamazoon
﴾31﴿ Wa izan qalabooo ilaaa ahlihimun qalaboo fakiheen
﴾32﴿ Wa izaa ra awhum qaalooo inna haaa'ulaaa'i ladaaal loon
﴾33﴿ Wa maaa ursiloo 'alaihim haafizeen
﴾34﴿ Fal yawmal lazeena aamanoo minal kuffaari yadhakoon
﴾35﴿ Alal araaa'iki yanzuroon
﴾36﴿ Hal suwwibal kuffaaru maa kaanoo yaf'aloon

﴾28﴿ It is a spring from which the close ones (to Allah, the Most High) drink
﴾29﴿ Indeed, those who committed crimes used to laugh at the believers
﴾30﴿ And when they passed by them, they would wink at one another
﴾31﴿ And when they returned to their people, they would return rejoicing
﴾32﴿ And when they saw them, they would say, Indeed, these are the misguided ones
﴾33﴿ And they were not sent as guardians over them
﴾34﴿ So today, the believers will be laughing at the disbelievers
﴾35﴿ They will be on thrones, observing
﴾36﴿ Have the disbelievers been recompensed for what they used to do

[29] This is a rebuke to the criminals through the mention of four vile traits,
which are the causes of wayl (woe) and the rayn (stain) upon the heart.
[30] (يَتَغَامَزُونَ) — they wink at one another, either to mock and belittle the believers or to find faults in them.
[31] (أَهْلِهِمُ) — refers to their followers and imitators.
(فَكِهِينَ) — they rejoice and display arrogance over the mockery they made of the believers,
showing off to their followers as if to say, “We humiliated the believers,” boasting of their supposed superiority.
[32,33] They used to call the noble Companions (ṣaḥābah kirām) misguided because the Companions did not follow their way — and this is the condition of the Shīʿah, who label the Companions as misguided, apostates, and disbelievers due to their own deviation.
(وَمَا أُرْسِلُوا) — this is the statement of Allah the Exalted, refuting those who accuse the Companions of being misguided.
It means: these criminals were not appointed as guardians or responsible authorities over the believers and the Companions, that they should be issuing judgments about them.
Alternatively, this may also be the statement of the disbelievers about the believers — that when the believers invited them to tawḥīd and forbade them from shirk, they would say, “You were not sent over us, nor are you responsible for us.”
