تَبَارَكَ الَّذِي 1477 اَلْمُرْسَلات

َ هَذَا يَوْمُ لَا يَنْطِقُونَ ﴿۳۵﴾ وَلَا يُؤْذَنُ لَهُمْ فَيَعْتَذِرُونَ ﴿۳۶﴾ وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِلْمُكَذِّبِينَ ﴿۳۷﴾ هَذَا يَوْمُ الْفَصْلِ جَمَعْنَاكُمْ وَالْأَوَّلِينَ ﴿۳۸﴾ فَإِنْ كَانَ لَكُمْ كَيْدٌ فَكِيدُونِ ﴿۳۹﴾ وَيْلٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ لِلْمُكَذِّبِينَ ﴿۴۰﴾ إِنَّ الْمُتَّقِينَ فِي ظِلَالٍ وَعُيُونٍ ﴿۴۱﴾ وَفَوَاكِهَ مِمَّا يَشْتَهُونَ ﴿۴۲﴾

﴾35﴿ Haazaa yawmu laa yantiqoon
﴾36﴿ Wa laa yu'zanu lahum fa ya'taziroon
﴾37﴿ Wailunw yawma 'izil lilmukazzibeen
﴾38﴿ Haaza yawmul fasli jama 'naakum wal awwaleen
﴾39﴿ Fa in kaana lakum kaidun fakeedoon
﴾40﴿ Wailuny yawma'izil lilmukazzibeen
﴾41﴿ Innal muttaqeena fee zilaalinw wa 'uyoon
﴾42﴿ Wa fawaakiha mimmaa yashtahoon

﴾35﴿ This is the day when they cannot speak
﴾36﴿ And no permission (judgment) is given to them so that they may make excuses
﴾37﴿ Destruction on that day is for the deniers
﴾38﴿ This is the Day of Decision; We will gather you and the people of the past
﴾39﴿ So if you have a plan, then plan against me
﴾40﴿ Destruction on that day is for the deniers
﴾41﴿ Indeed, the righteous will be in shades and springs
﴾42﴿ And they will have fruits of whatever kind they desire

[35,36] This too is a warning of the Hereafter, by mentioning the various terrifying scenes of the Day of Judgment. (لَا يَنْطِقُونَ)—they are unable to speak due to the overwhelming terror. Question: In other verses, it is mentioned: "they dispute", "they speak", "they ask one another", "she argues on her own behalf". These expressions imply that they can speak—so how can this be reconciled? Answer 1: The Day of Judgment is long and consists of different stages. In some phases, they are able to speak—uttering false excuses, denying their shirk and disbelief, or arguing between followers and leaders. But in other moments, the terror overcomes them to such a degree that they are completely unable to speak. Answer 2: The negation of speech here is qualified—meaning, they cannot speak with any proof or beneficial argument.
[37] Those who do not accept this condition and deny or reject it—these are the deniers referred to here.
[38,39] This is another type of warning. Previously, it was mentioned that one cannot be saved through excuses or by receiving permission. Here, it is stated that one also cannot be saved through tricks and plots.
In this verse, يُقَال (it is said) is implied at the beginning.
هٰذا refers to the one previously described who possesses those attributes.
(وَالْأَوَّلِينَ)—Question: Why is الآخرين (the later ones) not mentioned? First answer: The intended deniers are those of the previous prophets and of the final Prophet. After him, no more prophets will come, so there are no new "deniers of later prophets."
Second answer: The phrase لَكُمْ (to you) addresses the Ummah of the final Prophet, and this Ummah continues until the Day of Judgment.
[40] Those who do not accept the gathering of all people and the accounting (reckoning)—they are the deniers referred to here.
[41,42] This is a glad tiding of the Hereafter for the God-fearing (muttaqīn), who are the opposite of the deniers, and thus their reward is also opposite.
(ظِلَالٍ) refers to the shade of trees and palaces—real shade—which contrasts with the shade of Hell.
(عُيُونٍ) is mentioned in plural form because of the many types of springs and rivers in Paradise.
(وَفَوَاكِهَ) means fruits, which surround them and are available from every direction.
