تَبَارَكَ الَّذِي 1419 اَلحَاقَّة
َ إِنَّا لَمَّا طَغَى الْمَاءُ حَمَلْنَاكُمْ فِي الْجَارِيَةِ ﴿۱۱﴾ لِنَجْعَلَهَا لَكُمْ تَذْكِرَةً وَتَعِيَهَا أُذُنٌ وَاعِيَةٌ ﴿۱۲﴾ فَإِذَا نُفِخَ فِي الصُّورِ نَفْخَةٌ وَاحِدَةٌ ﴿۱۳﴾ وَحُمِلَتِ الْأَرْضُ وَالْجِبَالُ فَدُكَّتَا دَكَّةً وَاحِدَةً ﴿۱۴﴾ فَيَوْمَئِذٍ وَقَعَتِ الْوَاقِعَةُ ﴿۱۵﴾ وَانْشَقَّتِ السَّمَاءُ فَهِيَ يَوْمَئِذٍ وَاهِيَةٌ ﴿۱۶﴾ وَالْمَلَكُ عَلَى أَرْجَائِهَا وَيَحْمِلُ عَرْشَ رَبِّكَ فَوْقَهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ ثَمَانِيَةٌ ﴿۱۷﴾ يَوْمَئِذٍ تُعْرَضُونَ لَا تَخْفَى مِنْكُمْ خَافِيَةٌ ﴿۱۸﴾
﴾11﴿ Innaa lammaa taghal maaa'u hamalnaakum fil jaariyah
﴾12﴿ Li naj'alahaa lakum tazki ratanw-wa ta'iyahaa uzununw waa'iyah
﴾13﴿ Fa izaa nufikha fis soori nafkhatunw waahidah
﴾14﴿ Wa humilatil ardu wal jibaalu fadukkataa dakkatanw waahidah
﴾15﴿ Fa yawma'izinw waqa'atil waaqi'ah
﴾16﴿ Wanshaqqatis samaaa'u fahiya yawma 'izinw-waahiyah
﴾17﴿ Wal malaku 'alaaa arjaaa'ihaa; wa yahmilu 'Arsha Rabbika fawqahum yawma'izin samaaniyah
﴾18﴿ Yawma'izin tu'radoona laa takhfaa min kum khaafiyah
﴾11﴿ Indeed, when the water overflowed beyond its limits, We carried you in the sailing ship
﴾12﴿ So that We may make it a reminder for you, and that retentive ears may remember it
﴾13﴿ Then, when the Trumpet is blown with a single blast
﴾14﴿ And the earth and the mountains will be lifted and crushed with a single blow
﴾15﴿ Then, on that day, the inevitable calamity will occur
﴾16﴿ And the sky will be torn apart, and on that day, it will be fragile
﴾17﴿ And the angels will be at its edges, and on that day, eight will bear the Throne of your Lord above them
﴾18﴿ On that day, you will be presented (for judgment), and nothing of yours will remain hidden
[11,12] This is the fifth example of worldly punishment, referring to the punishment of the people of Nūḥ (peace be upon him).
(طَغَى الْمَاءُ) – The water overflowed beyond its usual limits, or it surpassed the control of the angels, to the point that even the mountains were submerged.
(تَذْكِرَةً) – The event serves as a reminder:
Either by means of the ships that came after the Ark of Nūḥ (peace be upon him),
Or it reminds people of the reality of Tawḥīd (Oneness of Allah),
And also serves as a reminder of the punishment of the deniers and the salvation of the believers.
(وَتَعِيَهَا أُذُنٌ وَاعِيَةٌ) – This indicates that the previous pronouns also refer to the event/story itself (and not the Ark),
since waʿy (understanding, grasping) cannot be a characteristic of a ship—it must relate to the message or event.
[13] Up to this point, the awe and grandeur of the Day of Judgment has been described.
Now, the conditions and states of that Day are being mentioned, which are of three types.
The first type is the state of destruction (fanā’), and this continues until verse 17.
[14] In these two states, two elements are mentioned: the earth and the mountains.
(دَكَّةً) – Means to crush, pulverize, or break down completely.
It also implies leveling, meaning: first, the mountains are smashed down,
then the earth is flattened and leveled out completely—so that all appears as a single plain.
[15] In this verse, the fourth condition of the Day of Judgment is described,
and the Day is referred to as "الْوَاقِعَةُ"—a name meaning “the Event” or “the Inevitable.”
This name has also been mentioned previously in Surah Al-Wāqi‘ah.
[16] In this verse, the fifth and sixth states of the Day of Judgment are mentioned:
1. (انشقاق السماء) – The splitting of the sky,
2. (وَهِيَ) – Its weakening or collapse.
The term انشقاق refers to the sky breaking apart, crumbling, or tearing into pieces—no longer maintaining its former form or strength.
وَهِيَ signifies that the sky becomes fragile, unstable, and incapable of holding itself together.
[17] In this verse, the seventh state of the Day of Judgment is described: the angels will be present at the edges of the sky, meaning at those parts that remain intact.
(مَلَكُ) – Is a generic term here, referring to all heavenly angels.
Then begins the second category of conditions, and the first state of this section is mentioned:
(وَيَحْمِلُ عَرْشَ رَبِّكَ فَوْقَهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ ثَمَانِيَةٌ) –
(فَوْقَهُمْ) is a clear text affirming that the Throne (‘Arsh) of Allah is above.
(يَوْمَئِذٍ) – From the apparent wording of hadiths, it is understood that even now, the number of angels carrying the Throne is the same, and they will be present on that Day as well.
(ثَمَانِيَةٌ) – There will be eight angels carrying the Throne.
From authentic marfū‘ hadiths, including one reported by Abū Dāwūd, it's mentioned that the distance between the angel’s earlobe and shoulder is a journey of 700 years, describing the immense size of the angels who carry the Throne.
[18] In this verse, two additional states of the Day of Judgment are mentioned:
1. (تُعْرَضُونَ) – Refers to the presentation (عرض) for accountability.
Every soul and every deed will be brought forth and presented—nothing will remain hidden.
2. (لَا تَخْفَى مِنكُمْ خَافِيَةٌ) – Indicates that nothing will be concealed—neither actions, nor intentions, nor thoughts.
Everything will be made manifest for the purpose of judgment and recompense.
