َقَالَ فَمَا خَطْبُكُمْ 1316 الرَّحمٰن

َ فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ﴿۷۱﴾ حُورٌ مَقْصُورَاتٌ فِي الْخِيَامِ ﴿۷۲﴾ فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ﴿۷۳﴾ لَمْ يَطْمِثْهُنَّ إِنْسٌ قَبْلَهُمْ وَلَا جَانٌّ ﴿۷۴﴾ فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ﴿۷۵﴾ مُتَّكِئِينَ عَلَى رَفْرَفٍ خُضْرٍ وَعَبْقَرِيٍّ حِسَانٍ ﴿۷۶﴾ فَبِأَيِّ آلَاءِ رَبِّكُمَا تُكَذِّبَانِ ﴿۷۷﴾ تَبَارَكَ اسْمُ رَبِّكَ ذِي الْجَلَالِ وَالْإِكْرَامِ ﴿۷۸﴾

﴾71﴿ Fabi ayyi aalaaa'i Rabbikumaa
﴾72﴿ Hoorum maqsooraatun fil khiyaam
﴾73﴿ Fabi ayyi aalaaa'i Rabbikumaa tukazzibaan.
﴾74﴿
﴾75﴿ Lam yatmis hunna insun qablahum wa laa jaaann
﴾76﴿ Muttaki'eena 'alaa rafrafin khudrinw wa 'abqariyyin hisaan
﴾77﴿ Fabi ayyi aalaaa'i Rabbikumaa tukazzibaan.
﴾78﴿ Tabaarakasmu Rabbika Zil-Jalaali wal-Ikraam

﴾71﴿ So which of the favors of your Lord will you both deny
﴾72﴿ The houris are restrained in pavilions (like pearls)
﴾73﴿ So which of the favors of your Lord will you both deny
﴾74﴿ No human before them has touched them, nor any jinn
﴾75﴿ So which of the favors of your Lord will you both deny
﴾76﴿ They rest in green tents and on beautiful carpets
﴾77﴿ So which of the favors of your Lord will you both deny
﴾78﴿ Blessed is the name of your Lord, full of majesty and honor

[72,73] These are additional qualities of the spouses in Paradise:
(مَقْصُورَاتٌ)—meaning they are kept in seclusion for protection and honor.
This praises women who observe modesty and remain within their homes, not wandering in the streets without necessity.
(فِي الْخِيَامِ)—"in tents": the explanation of these tents in Paradise comes from an authentic hadith, which is what is intended here.
The Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and give him peace) said: In Paradise, a believer will have a tent made of a single hollowed pearl, its height is sixty cubits (about 8 miles), and within it will be his spouses, whom he visits, but they will not see one another.
This narration is from Sahih Muslim.
[74,75] This is a shared attribute between the earlier and later descriptions of the spouses in Paradise.
The reason both groups share this quality is because its absence would naturally and customarily be strongly felt and would significantly reduce enjoyment.
Thus, to ensure complete and perfect delight, this attribute is present in both types of spouses.
[76,77] These are further qualities of the people of Paradise—meaning all the previously mentioned blessings will be given to them along with complete comfort and relaxation.
(رَفْرَفٍ خُضْرٍ)—refers to green coverings, which could mean canopies or tents spread over bedding, cushions, or even the lush green meadows of Paradise.
(وَعَبْقَرِيٍّ)—refers to richly decorated tents or luxurious, beautifully woven carpets that are rare and unknown in this world due to their uniqueness and elegance.
[78] This concluding statement applies to the entire surah and is a detailed affirmation of its opening claim found in the word "تَبَارَكَ".
The word indicates that the creation of all the previously mentioned blessings, their elevation, and their permanence are specific to Allah the Exalted.
All these blessings point to the greatness and majesty of Allah, which is why the attribute "ذِي الْجَلَالِ" (Possessor of Majesty) is mentioned.
Likewise, these blessings also signify His generosity and mercy, which is why the attribute "وَالْإِكْرَامِ" (and Honor) is mentioned.
(اسْمُ رَبِّكَ)—the intended meaning of "Name" here is "الرَّحْمَٰن" as mentioned at the beginning of the surah.
In fact, every name from the Beautiful Names (Asmā’ al-Ḥusnā) is described with "تبارك"—full of blessing.
(ذِي الْجَلَالِ وَالْإِكْرَامِ)—these are attributes of the Lord: Jalāl (majesty) refers to His essence, and Ikrām (generosity/honor) refers to His actions.
Note: Al-Qāsimi mentioned in his tafsīr that the blessings of Allah’s names are obligatory to acknowledge.
We seek blessing (tabarruk) through their mention, and we show reverence, honor, and veneration to His names—whether they are written on paper, inscribed on walls, or mentioned verbally.
